New song Living Out My Dreams specially produced for Canadian Olympians to honour their Olympic journey

TORONTO – The Canadian Olympic Foundation (COF) today announced it has partnered with Juno winning singer Roch Voisine, to create an anthem song specifically for Canadian Olympians competing in the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. The new song Living Out My Dreams, which boasts the participation of musicians from the Orchestre symphonique de Montréaland famous conductor Maestro Kent Nagano, will be released digitally from January 28th on iTunes.

n addition to the song, this first-time collaboration will see Roch Voisine make a donation of the profits to the Canadian Olympic Foundation to help support emerging athletes.

“I am so proud the release of this new song will help support our next generation of Canadian athletes,” said Roch Voisine. “When Dean Landon, Anika Paris and I wrote this song, our goal was to help inspire our athletes. I know our donation will be invested in valuable programs, ensuring more of our young athletic talent will have the resources they need to achieve their Olympic goals.”

Orchestre symphonique de MontréalMusic Director Kent Nagano states: “I participated in this beautiful project called Living Out My Dreams and I was very happy to do it to support our Canadian athletes and the Olympic Movement. Good luck!”

“A future generation of Olympians will benefit enormously from this collaboration with Roch Voisine, and we are grateful for his amazing talent and support of the Canadian Olympic Foundation,” said Marcel Aubut, President, Canadian Olympic Committee. “As we head into the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, let us not forget the athletes that will be here at home, training tirelessly to be ready for Rio, PyeongChang and Tokyo. Initiatives like this are the only way that Canada will have continued success on the podium.”

“The first time I heard this song, I knew it was going to be something amazing for our athletes and Canada. It really struck a powerful, emotional chord,” said Alexandre Bilodeau, two-time Olympian and Vancouver 2010 gold medallist. “It is a fantastic song and I can’t wait for my fellow athletes and the rest of Canada to hear it.”

The Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games will run from February 7-23, 2014, where the COC has set a goal of contending for the top spot in overall medals won.

About the Canadian Olympic Foundation

To meet and sustain our medal goals, Canada must also support athletes five to eight years from the podium to achieve results at the Tokyo 2020 Games and 2022 Games. However, most Canadian families cannot afford to keep their kids in sport beyond early entry to competition because of higher training and equipment fees, higher-level coaching, and international travel expenses. With a new mandate to raise awareness and invest funds to identify and support emerging homegrown athletes in the earlier stages of development, the Canadian Olympic Foundation strives to remove these financial barriers. By extending valuable coaching and technical programs to our Next Generation of talent we will cultivate a winning “Podium Pipeline” for future Olympic Games.
